• A D A P T Accredited Consultant guides the SME Owner Manager through the Programme by asking relevant questions to help them systematically review the business situation and changing environment. The aim is to help the SME Owner Manager recognise the challenges and opportunities arising.

• The Consultant does not advise the SME Owner Manager what to do, but rather guides the SME Owner Manager through the process which enables them to develop their own vision and action plan.

• This process helps ensure that the resulting action plans can be implemented – and, if the SME Owner Manager needs Implementation Support, the Consultant may be available to help as required.

• The A D A P T Process can lead to numerous follow-on support, such as continued mentoring by the Consultant, a non-executive role, specific implementation of part or all of the plan, or simply help in defining and identifying management consultancy work.

• Overall, A D A P T helps ensure that the SME develops its own organisational capabilities as quickly and inexpensively as possible.
