    Our Mission

    ADAPT is a programme to help SME Owner Managers secure sustainable growth for their SMEs and Local Communities.


    The programme is delivered with the help of Accelor’s  Diagnostic Action Planning Tool (ADAPT) and a Local Accredited ADAPT Consultant - and is sometimes supported by a Local Community Sponsor.

    Why ADAPT? [The Stakes = The Danger if the Challenges are not addressed]

    We see SMEs as the lifeblood of local economies and communities - and SME Owner Managers as unsung heroes juggling day to day operational demands while major challenges continue to mount up and threaten to overwhelm.


     These challenges include the “cost of living crisis” with rising energy & raw material costs and declining disposable incomes leading to a squeeze on margins while employees ask for increased wages and digital based competitors add to the competition – all meanwhile consumers, banks and government agencies push for ever greener operations.


    The stakes are high - not only for the SME Owner Managers and their SMEs and employees – but also for the local economies and communities which rely so much on their local SMEs.


    Failure to adapt is not just dangerous for the SME Owner Managers and the SME employees directly involved but for all the stakeholders and the whole local community.

    ADAPT Value Proposition

     

    We have specifically designed ADAPT to enable SME Owner Managers to quickly and easily review their business with the help of an experienced and accredited ADAPT Consultant at a minimal affordable cost (in terms of both time and money) – and without disrupting the SME Owner Manager’s

    busy schedule for more than an hour a day over twenty days.


    The ADAPT Programme enables the SME Owner Manager to review the business and its changing environment in a systematic manner to highlight relevant challenges and opportunities, and to facilitate the development

    of the SME Owner Manager’s own vision and action plan going forward.


    In addition, Accelor is creating a network of local accredited  ADAPT consultants who will be available to provide Implementation Support to the SME Owner Manager if and when the SME Owner Manager requires

    such implementation support – and in  a manner that maximises the utilisation and development of the SME’s own internal resources.


    Overall therefore, ADAPT offers a huge value return to the SME Owner Manager on  a relatively small investment and one that is not traditionally available in the market place.

    The ADAPT Accredited Consultant Role of a Guide

     

    The role of the ADAPT Accredited Consultant is to guide the SME Owner Manager through the ADAPT Programme by asking relevant questions and to help the SME Owner Manager review the business situation and changing environment in a systematic manner to help identify the challenges and opportunities arising, and to help the SME Owner Manager develop their vision and action plan going forward.


    It is important to emphasise that the Consultant does not advise the SME Owner Manager as to what to do, but guides the SME Owner Manager through the process which enables the SME Owner Manager to develop their own vision and action plan going forward.


    This process helps ensure that the resulting action plans will in fact be implemented – and, if the SME Owner Manager needs Implementation Support, the Consultant will be available to help as required.


    Regarding the Accredited Consultant’s role in Implementation Support, the consulting approach would similarly be focused on helping guide a process within the SME to achieve the implementation objectives using as much of the SME’s internal resources rather than external consulting time.


    Overall, this helps ensure that the SME develops its own organisational capabilities as quickly and 

    inexpensively as possible.

    Easy Steps towards deciding whether or not to engage in the ADAPT Programme

     

    The ADAPT Programme leads to the SME Owner Manager’s own action plan – which can then be implemented with or without any external Consulting help as and when decided by the SME Owner

    Manager.


    The first step is simply to make contact with us below so that we can explain the ADAPT Programme in greater detail – without any obligation to pursue further.


    If you then decide to go to the next stage, we would introduce you to an appropriate Accredited ADAPT Consultant who will actually start the programme with you for the first three sessions for you to decide

    whether or not to complete the full programme of twenty sessions.


    This gives you an opportunity to meet the relevant ADAPT Consultant and see how the process actually works in practice before having to decide whether or not to do the full programme.

    Why do SMEs need ADAPT?

     

    We believe the current challenges will be felt most acutely by SME Owner Managers leading SMEs with between 10 and 100 employees.


    SMEs with more than 100 employees typically have the revenues and the resources to enable their owner managers and CEOs to take sufficient time away from the day to day operations to consider the broader and often longer term challenges as they emerge.


    SME Owner Managers with less than 100 employees are often caught in the transition from“being the business” to “running the business” to “leading the business” – hence confronting a yet more complex and confusing array of demands on their time that prevents the SME

    Owner Manager from taking the necessary time to consider the future direction of the business in a systematic manner.


    Typical Consultants tend to focus their attention on large Corporates who have the funds available to pay for their relatively specialised and expensive services. Most often, these services are not suitable for the SME even if they were affordable. 


    The result is the neglected SME Owner Manager who has to struggle on despite mounting challenges.

    ADAPT Provenance

     

    ADAPT reflects a lifetime of combined consulting and executive experience of the Accelor Founders.


    Based initially on the consulting and executive experience with large corporates, the Founders have focused on creating ADAPT specifically with the embattled SME Owner Manager in mind.


    An earlier version of the approach was developed and successfully applied in the context of a major Private Equity Firm in London with a portfolio of more than 100 SME investee companies. 


    This approach was in turn found to be consistent with the approach endorsed by the UK Growth Accelerator which helped over 10,000 SMEs to (on average) double their expected revenues within two years.


    Coupled with subsequent experience, the Founders have focused on creating ADAPT as a low cost affordable tool to help SME Owner Managers in this regard with the right balanced level of external

    Consultant support.


    Part of the solution is the emphasis on using key questions to help the SME Owner Manager through what may be viewed as a “journey of discovery” or re-discovery of the business and its business environment.

    The Accredited ADAPT Consultant provides an independent sounding board as part of the dialogue leading to a high level of consistency and quality in the resulting vision and action plan.

    PRICING APPROACH

    The ADAPT Pricing Approach is designed to enable as many SME Owner Managers engage in the

    Programme as possible.


    We will do everything possible to explain the Programme and to enable you to try it before asking

    you to commit to it.


    Once the SME Owner Manager is ready to commit to the Programme, the standard expected fee is

    £2,500 plus VAT for the full 20 sessions.
